Why did you join UP!?: To be a part of a coalition that is working together to address the threat(s) that the current drug epidemic is having on our youth, in particular, and our community, as a whole.
What are some positive things for the youth in this community?: Given the size and rural nature of our area, we are fortunate to have a significant number of positive recreational activities available in which youth can participate and become involved. Many of these activities are facilitated by non-profit organizations who rely on donations, grants, and adult volunteers to provide these beneficial opportunities to our young people.
What are some changes you wish to see in the community?: To find a way to break the negative cycle addictions of all kinds have on our families.
What does the word “COMMUNITY” mean to you?: Your “community” is initially defined by the location where you reside, but develops into a more meaningful and impactful group of people to which you belong by the relationships that you develop and foster with the others who live and work there with you.
What is your favorite season?: Summer!
If you could have one super power, what would you choose?: Super speed so I could get all of my work done quickly and have more time left to share with my friends and family.
What words of wisdom would you pass on to your childhood self?: “Sometimes things aren't clear right away. That's where you need to be patient and persevere and see where things lead.” -Mary Pierce
What’s your favorite book you have ever read?: Wonder by R.J. Palacio
Who is your personal hero? Why?: My parents and grandparents are my personal heroes. I could not have had better examples of strength, integrity, generosity, commitment and love than what they have modeled for me every day of their lives.
